Our '00 Trek To Harper's Flat in the Anza-Borrego Desert State park.

Though our stated objective was Harper's Flat we never reached it.  We thought we had until we noticed that a feature of the flats mentioned in the guidebook was missing.  This was the "Floating Islands of Rock" in the middle of said flat.  The enourmous flat that we had reached by exactly following the instructions in the guide book was the wrong one.  Had the guide told us to push through the this first flat while bearing to the left(north) we would have reached our goal (all this was figured with the help of a Borrego regular and friend named Pam W., thanks Pam).  As it was we had quite an adventure and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

John learned not to wear shorts on desert hikes.

We all learned to remember we have a camera when amazing things happen.

John learned to always check your mechanic's work.

Apple learned to get two sources for any desert route.

We all learned that we are fatter and older.

We all learned that the Navy uses the approach canyon to practice that Will Smith move from ID4.  Too Close, it's just a little canyon.

We all learned not to step on the bitchin Lion tracks before getting a picture.
